Community Impact

Each year, Coalitions and Partners of the State of Safe Kids Pennsylvania (SKPA) engage in a variety of outreach efforts to their local communities in order to prevent unintentional childhood injuries through education, awareness events, trainings, and more.

With the change of each fiscal year in July, the State Office Coordinator gathers data from each of the SKPA groups, both in the form of a detailed spreadsheet and in one-on-one meetings. That data is then compiled into a Summary Report for the previous fiscal year, which is available to the SKPA groups and the general public as well.

View our most recent Summary Report for the 24-25 fiscal year, or look at our highlights below.

Together, Safe Kids PA groups participate in events and trainings, and provide materials to families in need in order to reduce and prevent unintentional childhood injuries and death.

Susquehanna Valley began a project to increase knowledge of safe sleeping environments and safe travel for infants. They provided education and related safety items to caregivers who attended a session. They shared this story: One mother, who shared that she is essentially homeless and living out of her vehicle for the next two weeks awaiting low-income housing, shared her gratitude in person with us after the program for receiving a portable crib.  Additionally… we were able to further assist this mother with a convertible car seat… We could meet two needs for this mother and her baby.
