Community Impact
Each year, Coalitions and Partners of the State of Safe Kids Pennsylvania (SKPA) engage in a variety of outreach efforts to their local communities in order to prevent unintentional childhood injuries through education, awareness events, trainings, and more.
With the change of each fiscal year in July, the State Office Coordinator gathers data from each of the SKPA groups, both in the form of a detailed spreadsheet and in one-on-one meetings. That data is then compiled into a Summary Report for the previous fiscal year, which is available to the SKPA groups and the general public as well.

Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Continues to be SKPA's Biggest Initiative
In the 23-24 fiscal year, SKPA Groups:
Checked over 2,400 car seats using certified child passenger safety technicians
Distributed 561 car seats to families
Highlights from the Field:
In Southeastern PA, they received a mini grant to distribute at least 45 car seats to Latino children in the Philadelphia area, specifically Norristown and the surrounding area, by partnering with a local community agency. They were able to distribute over 60 seats within the 23-24 fiscal year. They said, “This has been one of the most successful programs we have run in a high-risk community. I attribute our success to the relationships and partners we created as a result of this project. The key to our success was identifying partners in the community and having them intricately involved in the planning, implementation, and evaluation”

I have received nothing but positive feedback… During my visit yesterday, the kids told me all about it. On behalf of the students and staff, thank you again! It has been a pleasure working with you and I look forward to continuing this partnership in the future!”
