About Us
Our Mission
To promote the prevention of unintentional childhood injuries and deaths in Pennsylvania through education, collaboration, and advocacy.
How do we fulfill our mission?
We are the only statewide evidence-based child injury prevention program in Pennsylvania that covers home safety, car and road safety, and sports and play safety.
We work to prevent unintentional childhood injuries and deaths by:
- Collaborating with other statewide and local organizations to make children and youth safer in PA;
- Funding evidence-based projects and injury reduction activities implemented by our Coalitions and Partners of the State;
- Providing safety education that is evidence-informed or evidence-based to children and youth in major risk areas throughout the Commonwealth, based on regional data and need;
- Promoting awareness messaging and education among child injury prevention advocates and the public;
- Providing resources and materials to our SKPA groups that are shown to reduce childhood injuries and deaths (like helmets, medication lock bags, and more),
- Supporting public policies that reduce injuries among children and youth, and;
- Prioritizing health equity efforts throughout PA and the nation.
